I served in the 58th Combat Engineer Company at Fulda in 1977. We supported 1/11 ACR. At that time I recall most of the tanks at Fulda were Sheridans with a few Pattons. The engineers drove 5-ton dump trucks and M113 APCs.
Hi David. I was Sgt Freeloves' Gunner for a while. I have to say...Of all the places I have been and things I have done, none can compare to the Experiences with the Blackhorse. We worked hard, trained hard, were hardly ever in garrison lol (Remember the Alert, I believe it was 78, Immediately following the end of the Superbowl. The Regimental commander lost a bet with the V corp commander). But the one thing I do know is that we played hard. Many a nights I remember literally crawling up the hill from downtown guided by the searchlight on top of Howell Battery barracks. The Squadron commander setup late night chow on Friday and Saturday nights. We would eat, sober up a bit and head back downtown haha.
I was there I remember B troop was our next door neighbor I got commissioned in 1985 I was with the 40 th Inf Div NG retired as O 3 in 94
