Jim, great to hear from you. Sounds like you have been busy since you departed Fulda and on the go. Yes it's hot and dry here in Killeen, but it's okay for now, Texas is Texas.... My wife and I visit many of our old German friends in Fulda every year and also a nice group in the Neustatdt, Illesheim area. We had a nice haus for six years in a small dorf of Schellert. Perfect for landing place my Apache to have lunch and meeting with my farmer neighbors.  It was always nice to fly in the Fatherland. I even made a trip to the old Sickles Army Airfield in 96 on my last flight in country, waved to the Polizei as we departed. As you know, SAAF is no longer. They do have a small 11th ACR museum located at the old MI barracks building there. The good old days.......

We also go to Berlin every year for some culture, fun, opera, Philharmonic, museums and our friends who live there. The former East Berlin has sections that are still pretty shot up from WWII, very interesting. Most of the people from East Berlin still have the Stasi mentality and have not changed. Still a divided city.....

Drop me a line when you can. Bill

Hello Jim, it's been a long time, it's good to see that you are doing well and still married to the beautiful Fulda Petra. I have run into a few old friends you and I hung out with in Fulda, namely Paul Wernlie, CW5 Ret, now....We were stationed together in Illesheim, 90-96. He is still a top aviator and bier drinker, not too bad for a Mx type! I have many stories to fill you in on. I think the last time we talked was when we were PAO's.... I still keep up with Michael Trost and SGM Brehl in Fulda and see them both often.

Sorry to Hear about Doo-Dah, I last saw him at Ft. Hood late 80's.

I've run into several folks who remember and served under "Smoking Joe" and the "Budda" Both were charaters to say the least. Remember when Smoking Joe had his jeep painted up like clowns carnival vehicle? He blew a cork! The white sidewalls were a nice touch.....

We have a lot to talk about, contact me! Say Hello to Wayne Alford and Doug Sharpe and others of the old gang.  Bill  ThunderHorse.......

P.S. Trick Questions: Who performed the "stress test on a one piece flight suit"?

Who owned the fastest Mazda RX-7 in Fulda?
